Psalm 7:1-9

A Prayer for Divine Justice

  1. David Prays for Divine Justice for His Enemy. – vs. 1-2*
    1. David trusts in the divine sovereignty of God, knowing that God will work everything out for his good. – vs. 1a*
                                                               i.      Romans 8:28
    1. David prays for deliverance first of all. – vs. 1b*
    2. David expresses his worst fears to God. – vs. 2*
                                                               i.      2 Timothy 1:7 
  1. David Prays for Divine Justice for Himself. – vs. 3-5*
    1. David asks for God to search his heart and life, and see if he has administered any of the following injustices: - vs. 3a *
                                                               i.      Allowed for moral failure – vs. 3b*
                                                             ii.      Hurt some on that was at peace with him – vs. 4a*
                                                            iii.      Fought again some one without a cause – vs. 4b*
    1. David is willing to take the following punishments if any of these things were true in his life: - vs. 5*
                                                               i.      Allow his soul to be persecuted by Satan
                                                             ii.      Take his life
                                                            iii.      Destroy his honor
    1. David asks God to make a decision between him and his enemy and administer justice. – vs. 6*
    2. God’s people are protected by His sovereignty. – vs. 7*
    3. David reminds God that his motives are pure. – vs. 8*
    4. David asks God to destroy the plans of the wicked. – vs. 9a*

    1. God is the one that sees the heart, and is the only one that can truly judge all men. – vs. 9c*
