II Timothy 2:1-7
The Source of True Power is Purity

2Ti 2:1  Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 
2Ti 2:2  And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. 
2Ti 2:3  Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 
2Ti 2:4  No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. 
2Ti 2:5  And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully. 
2Ti 2:6  The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits. 
2Ti 2:7  Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things. 
  1. The Source of True Spiritual Power is the Pure Doctrine of Jesus Christ. – vs. 1-3*
    1. Rest in the finished work of Christ on the Cross. – vs. 1*
                                                               i.      Romans 8:1-11 
    1. Be discipled by a faithful believer and then prepare to pass that on to those that are thirsty for the word. – vs. 2*
                                                               i.      Titus 1:9 
    1. When your faith rests on true gospel of Christ, then you will have the power to endure any hardship – The hardship you endure will be the source of your greatest witness to the world. – vs. 3*
                                                               i.      1 Peter 4:1-2 
  1. The Source of True Spiritual Power is Maintaining Personal Purity Through the Grace of Jesus Christ. – vs. 4-7*
    1. A true understanding of the gospel should change your life and produce a soldier immune to the temptations of this life. – vs. 4*
                                                               i.      1 Timothy 6:9-12 
    1. If an athlete is to win a game he must play by the rules. – vs. 5*
                                                               i.      How can a Christian be a faithful witness when their life is laden with sin?
1.      Hebrews 12:1-2 
    1. The hard working farmer will be the one with the bountiful harvest. – vs. 6*
                                                               i.      A Christian should stay focused on building the Kingdom of God rather than filling their life with only temporal pursuits.
1.      Matthew 9:37-38 
    1. Meditate on the teachings of the Bible and God will help you understand all the most important things in life. – vs. 7*
                                                               i.      Psalm 1:2-3
