Romans 12:2

Be Ye Transformed

 

Rom 12:2  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. 

 

  1. Be Not Conformed to this Worldσυσχηματίζω  suschēmatizō soos-khay-mat-id'-zo
    1. Christ, although divine, was made into the likeness of men

                                                              i.      Philippians 2:6-7 

    1. This world wants to press you into its likeness

                                                              i.      The World wants you to change your: Morality, your hair color, your skin color, what you where, your nationality, your gender, your values, your thinking, your perspective, your mindset

  1. Be Transformed μεταμορφόω metamorphoō met-am-or-fo'-o
    1. God wants to recreate you to make you into the likeness of His Son

1.      Ten Unchangeable things that God loves about you: One of a Kind, Parents, Brothers and Sisters, Nationality, Mental Capacity, Time in History, Gender, Order of Family, Aging, Time we Die

    1. So how will God transfigure you into His likeness?

                                                              i.      Christ did not, at the mount of transfiguration, take on the likeness of God. He revealed what was already there.

1.      Matthew 17:2 

                                                            ii.      The butterfly does not become another creature after metamorphosis it is transformed into a different likeness

1.      2 Corinthians 3:18 

2.      Colossians 1:12-14 

 

  1. By the Renewing of Your Mind

a.       We renew our minds be learning the nature of Christ and His love.

                                                              i.      Ephesians 4:20-27 

                                                            ii.      Titus 2:11-15 

           4.      That You May Demonstrate that God’s Will is:

a.       Good

                                                              i.      As we live in obedience to Christ, we learn His goodness by personal experience.

1.      1 Peter 2:9 

2.      Psalm 119:66-68 

b.      Acceptable

                                                            ii.      As we experience God’s goodness through obedience to Him, we learn that His commandments are not grievous but instead precious.

1.      1 John 5:1-3 

b.      Perfect

                                                              i.      God’s plan for the believer is not that they continue in defeat but that they, through His power, learn to conquer sin. Then they can begin to experience the blessings of living the victorious Christian life.

1.      Colossians 1:28-29 

2.      1 Thessalonians 4:3 

3.      1 Thessalonians 5:23
