Pioneering Spirit
Rom 15:20 Yea, so
have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should
build upon another man's foundation:
Rom 15:21 But as it
is written, To whom he was not spoken of, they shall see: and they that have
not heard shall understand.

Paul’s Purpose – vs. 20a*
a. Paul
is driven by a love of honor
i.
The word that is used here is philotimia
which means love of honor. We must:
1. Labor
in a fashion that is acceptable to the Lord

to not meddle in others business

b. Paul
recognizes that God’s love is not spread through human means
i.
The gospel is not primarily spread through:
Social media posts, bazars, fundraisers, bumper stickers, t-shirts etc.

Preaching is foolish to the world, but to
those that are saved it is power of God

Preachers must be continually: Examined,
tested, appointed and sent by the local church
