The Heart Cry of a Burdened Soul

Psa 13:1  To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me? 

Psa 13:2  How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me? 

Psa 13:3  Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death; 

Psa 13:4  Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved. 

Psa 13:5  But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. 

Psa 13:6  I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

1.      His enemy does not pronounce his victory over him

2.      Those that want to hurt him rejoice when they see him waver in his belief

3. The Praise – vs. 5-6*
1. David purposes to trust in the mercy of God no matter the circumstances. – vs. 5*

                                                               i.      The reason for that is, so he will experience joy in his heart.

God’s Plan to Overcome Evil

Psa 12:1  To the chief Musician upon Sheminith, A Psalm of David. Help, LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men. 

Psa 12:2  They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak. 

Psa 12:3  The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things: 

Psa 12:4  Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us? 

Psa 12:5  For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him. 

Psa 12:6  The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. 

Psa 12:7  Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. 

Psa 12:8  The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.

The Great Reversal

1Sa 2:1  And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the LORD, mine horn is exalted in the LORD: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation. 

1Sa 2:2  There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God. 

1Sa 2:3  Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.

6. God overturns the powerful. (Almost every culture in the world has a story of a person at the bottom of society having a change of fortune, and making it to the top. The reason for this is, that humans love story’s of the underdog winning) – vs. 7*

8. God saves those that trust in Him, and punishes those that reject Him. – vs. 9a*
9. God always uses the weak things of this world to overcome; in order to show His power. – vs. 9b*

God’s Plan for Victory

Psa 11:1  To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain? 

Psa 11:2  For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart. 

Psa 11:3  If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? 

Psa 11:4  The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD'S throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men. 

Psa 11:5  The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth. 

Psa 11:6  Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup. 

Psa 11:7  For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.

                                                               i.      God is the place of safety for our soul – all hell may be against me, but there will always be a place of refuge for my soul.

                                                               i.      The foundations of civilization are law and personal morality. The Hebrew word for foundation means, basis for right morality and politics. The basic support for any civilized society is laws founded on God’s Biblical Law, and people who are willing to follow those laws.
