Romans

Whom You Will Serve This Day
Rom 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal
body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
Rom 6:13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but
yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your
members as instruments of righteousness
unto God.
Rom 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for
ye are not under the law, but under grace.
- Therefore Do Not Let Sin Reign Over You – vs. 12*
- Paul wants you to have victory over sin right now, because
he adds in the phrase: “In your mortal body.” There is an important
distinction here, that you are no longer under the reign of sin, but your
body is. Sin does not have a claim over you or define you anymore, but it
will fight for mastery over your body. There are consequences to sin,
even for a believer. God chastens those He loves, and He will not give up
on His work of sanctification in your life no matter how hard you resist
it through sin.

– vs. 14*

and the lives around you. Wouldn’t you want to yield to the will of God
and begin working in earnest for the Kingdom that cannot fail?
