Luke
2:11-14
Good
Will Toward Men
Luk 2:8 And there
were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their
flock by night.
Luk 2:9 And, lo,
the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round
about them: and they were sore afraid.
Luk 2:10 And the
angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great
joy, which shall be to all people.
Luk 2:11 For unto
you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the
Lord.
Luk 2:12 And this
shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes,
lying in a manger.
Luk 2:13 And
suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising
God, and saying,
Luk 2:14 Glory to
God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
1. Glory
to God in the Highest
a. We
must follow the example of the angels and make giving God all the glory, the ultimate
priority of our lives.
i.
We give God the glory when we make Him:
1. Our
Governor
a.
Isaiah
9:6-7
2. Our
Wonder
a.
1 Timothy
3:16
3. Our
Counselor
a.
Colossians
2:2-3
4. Our
Mighty God
a.
Hebrews
1:5-9
5. Our
Everlasting Father
a.
Micah
5:2
6. Our
Prince of Peace
a.
Micah
4:1-3
2. And
on Earth Peace
a. When
we make giving God all the glory the first priority in our lives, we receive true
and lasting peace that cannot be taken away.
i.
World peace does not start on the macro
level, it starts with the individual. The world is changed not by grand movements
and revolutions but by each and every heart surrendered to Christ the King.
1. Peace
with God comes by faith
a.
Romans
15:13
2. Peace
with God come through trust
a.
Philippians
4:6-7
3. Good
Will Toward Men
a. As
we receive the peace that only God can give, we are filled with a true desire
of ‘good will toward men.’
i.
We can only fix our end of
every relationship in our lives. We cannot make others do the right thing.
1.
Romans
12:18
ii.
When we surrender our live to the King, He
enables us to let go of the things that hold us back from a better relationship
with others.
1. Ephesians 4:31-32
