Ephesians 6:15

Be Prepared with the Gospel of Peace!

 

Eph 6:15  And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 

 

            1.     Prepare For Battle by Wearing Appropriate Foot Ware

a.      A soldier must be in a state of readiness - Titus 3:1 

b.     A soldier should not be doubleminded in his responses - 2 Corinthians 1:18-22 

c.      A soldier needs acts like a man - 1 Corinthians 16:13 

d.     A soldier must be aware of the weaknesses of the flesh - Matthew 26:41 

e.      A soldier must be vigilant - 1 Peter 5:8 

f.      A soldier must be humble - 1 Corinthians 10:12-13 

g.     A soldier must be faithful to his covenant - Psalm 78:8-10 

          2.     Prepare Yourself with the Gospel of Peace

a.      What is the Gospel or Good News?

                                               i.     The gospel is reconciliation - Ephesians 2:13-18 

                                             ii.     The Gospel is the abolishment of death - 2 Timothy 1:10 

                                            iii.     The Gospel is found in the Bible - 1 Peter 1:25 

                                            iv.     The Gospel is not to be ashamed of - Romans 1:16-17 

                                              v.     The Gospel is to be preached - Romans 10:13-15 

b.     What is peace?

                                               i.     Who doesn’t have peace?

1.     The carnal mind has no peace - Romans 8:7 

2.     The selfish mind has no peace - James 4:1-4 

3.     Those who teach false doctrines will have no peace

a.      Romans 16:17

4.     The unrepentant have no peace - 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9 

                                             ii.     Who does have peace?

1.     Peace is found in the blood of the cross - Colossians 1:20 

2.     Peace is given through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit

a.      John 14:26-27 

3.     Peace will be given to the people of God

a.      Psalm 29:11; Psalm 37:37 

4.     Peace is found in a unity with the people of God

a.      2 Corinthians 13:11

Baptismal service

 We are praising the Lord for a wonderful baptismal service this past Sunday. We had 11 baptisms! I am so thankful for each of these wonderful people who have made this important step of faith and obedience. There is a lot to get to the point and I have to be honest, the glory belongs to God, the credit goes to my fantastic church and praise goes to our Lord and Savior Jesus Church. I want to give a huge thank you to all of you at Zion Evangelical Church who made this day possible...

Ephesians 6:14b

Put On the Breastplate of Righteousness!

 

Eph 6:14  Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

          1.     Put On the Breastplate of Righteousness!

a.     Put on Imputed Righteousness

                                               i.     Righteousness hath no man - Romans 3:10 

                                             ii.     Righteousness is given to us

1.     2 Corinthians 5:21; Romans 4:22-25 

                                           iii.     Righteousness is not achieved through human effort - Philippians 3:4-9 

                                            iv.     Righteousness is the reason you were redeemed - Titus 2:14 

b.     Put on Imparted Righteousness

                                               i.     While all our righteousness is given to us, we are to take the righteousness of God and begin to make it our own through a pursuit of holiness

1.     Ephesians 4:24 

                                             ii.     Righteousness is now the choice of the believer - Romans 6:11-13 

                                           iii.     Righteousness is the hallmark of the Kingdom of Light - Ephesians 5:8-9 

                                            iv.     Righteousness is the identifier of the people of God - 1 John 3:10 

                                             v.     Righteousness is the practice of the people of God - 1 John 5:17-18 

                                            vi.     Righteousness grows out of properly placed affections - Colossians 3:2-6 

                                          vii.     Righteousness gives incredible courage - Proverbs 28:1 

                                        viii.     Righteousness gives power to the words of an individual

1.     Proverbs 10:20-21 

                                            ix.     Righteousness is our most powerful witnessing tool - Matthew 5:16 

                                             x.     Righteousness is rewarded with mercy - Hosea 10:12 

                                            xi.     Righteousness in the inward heart is the theme of the New Covenant

1.     Jeremiah 31:33-34 

                                          xii.     Righteousness is rewarded with satisfaction - Matthew 5:6

Gird Yourself with Truth!

Eph 6:14  Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 

 

          1.     Stand Having Your Loins Protected

a.     A follower of Jesus must prepare himself for battle

                                               i.     Luke 12:35 

b.     Loins are at the core of your strength and must be your first instinct to protect

                                               i.     Deuteronomy 33:11; Psalm 69:23 

         2.     Stand in the Truth!

a.     What is Truth?

                                               i.     Can we know for certain what truth is? - John 18:33-38

                                             ii.     Truth is found in a Person - John 14:6 

                                           iii.     Truth is revealed to us in a Book - John 17:17 

                                            iv.     Truth gives us faith - Ephesians 1:13 

                                             v.     Truth is taught to us by Jesus - Ephesians 4:20-21 

                                            vi.     Truth is what sets us free from the kingdom of darkness

1.     John 8:30-32 

                                          vii.     Truth is the path to forgiveness - 1 John 1:8-9 

                                        viii.     Truth is salvation by faith alone - Galatians 3:1-2 

                                            ix.     Truth is what should come out of our mouths

1.     Ephesians 4:15; Ephesians 4:25 

                                             x.     Truth is the essence of the New Man - Ephesians 4:22-24 

                                            xi.     Truth is to be the ethic of the believer - Proverbs 6:16-19 

                                          xii.     Truth should be at the center of our innermost being - Psalm 51:6 

                                        xiii.     Truth is the foundation of our faith - 2 Timothy 2:18 

                                         xiv.     Truth is a protection against the attacks of Satan - Job 2:3 

                                          xv.     Truth is the opposite of hypocrisy - Matthew 23:27-28 

                                         xvi.     Truth is not the works of false prophets - 2 Timothy 3:5-9 

                                       xvii.     Truth is what Satan hates - John 8:44 

                                     xviii.     Truth is what the kingdom of darkness is against - Revelation 12:9 

                                         xix.     Truth comes to us from the Holy Spirit - John 16:13

Ephesians 6:13

Stand in the Face of Evil

Eph 6:13  Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 

 

          1.     Continue to Put on the Whole Armor of God

a.     A good hoplite

                                               i.     Hears the call of his Commander - Psalm 50:5 

                                             ii.     Pledges allegiance to his Commander - Luke 9:23-24 

                                           iii.     Arms himself with the appropriate armor

1.     Romans 13:12; 2 Corinthians 6:7 

                                            iv.     Is faithful to the army that he serves with - Hebrews 10:23-25 

                                             v.     Remembers that he is a contributor to that army - 1 Corinthians 12:12-14 

                                            vi.     Will not desert in the hard times - 2 Timothy 4:5-11 

                                          vii.     Remembers that quitting is not an option - 2 Peter 2:21; Hebrews 10:38 

                                        viii.     Remembers that his Commander will not forsake him - Hebrews 13:5-6 

                                            ix.     Remembers that his Commander loves him to the end - John 13:1 

                                             x.     Remembers to give encouragement to his fellow soldiers

1.     Luke 22:31-32 

           2.     So That You Can Stand in the Evil Day

a.     Some of you may feel like Jacob - Genesis 47:9 

b.     Because we live in a hostile world - 1 John 5:19 

          3.     Doing all to Continue to Stand, Stand Therefore!

a.     It is only the saved that can make a stand - Romans 5:1-2 

b.     Stand against an alliance with the darkness - James 4:4 

c.     Stand without flinching in the face of darkness - 1 John 1:5-7 

d.     Stand over a murdered darkness within - Romans 8:13 

e.     Stand firm in the truth - 2 Peter 1:12 

f.      Stand with the faithful

                                               i.     Philippians 1:7; Philippians 1:27
