Romans 11:22

Continue in the Goodness of God

 

Rom 11:22  Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. 

        1.      Behold therefore the Goodness and Severity of God

a.       "Who said anything about safe? 'Course he isn't safe. But he's good. He's the King, I tell you." – C.S. Lewis (Mr. Beaver speaking of Aslan) God is not a house cat; He is a lion that you cannot control. He is Lord of the universe to whom you must submit.

                                                              i.      Hebrews 12:1-6 

        2.      On Them Which Fell, Severity

a.       God sometimes disciplines His children to bring them back on to the path of life and keep us from destruction.

                                                              i.      1 Peter 2:20-22 

        3.      But Toward Thee, Goodness

a.       Be thankful to God that He has given you mercy when you do not deserve it

                                                              i.      Romans 3:23-26 

         4.      If Thou Continue in His Goodness: Otherwise Thou Also Shalt be Cut Off

a.       If You Do Not Rest in God’s Mercy and Forgiveness, He Will Discipline You. Because of God’s willingness to discipline us we can be confident that He will never lose us.
