Romans 16:3-5a

What a Biblical Marriage Looks Like

 

Rom 16:3  Greet Priscilla and Aquila my helpers in Christ Jesus: 

Rom 16:4  Who have for my life laid down their own necks: unto whom not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles. 

Rom 16:5  Likewise greet the church that is in their house. Salute my wellbeloved Epaenetus, who is the firstfruits of Achaia unto Christ.

    1. A godly couple serves Christ above all else

                                                              i.      Is Christ King of your life?

                                                          iii.      Is your life marked by the fruits of the Holy Spirit?

                                                          iv.      Do you believe that children are a godly heritage?

    1. A godly couple is willing to give their lives for the cause of Christ

                                                              i.      Couples need the man to be the spiritual leader

1.      Acts 18:1-4 

                                                            ii.      Couples need to have a vision to train the next generation of godly leaders

1.      Acts 18:24-28 

                                                          iii.      Couples need to be passionate about seeing the work of Christ go forward in their community

1.      Priscilla and Aquilla had churches in:

a.       Corinth

                                                                                                                                      i.      1 Corinthians 16:19 

b.      Ephesus

                                                                                                                                      i.      2 Timothy 4:19 

c.       And Rome

                                                                                                                                      i.      Romans 16:5 

 

    1. A godly couple is a blessing to fellow workers of the Kingdom, in their local area

                                                              i.      They have their priorities in the proper order

1.      God first

a.       1 John 2:15-17 

2.      Then family

a.       1 Timothy 5:8 

3.      Then church

a.       Ephesians 5:22-33 

    1. A godly couple are a blessing to fellow workers in the Kingdom, around the world

                                                              i.      Every believer should have a passion to share the gospel with the world

1.      Matthew 28:19-20

    1. A godly couple opens their home for ministry

                                                              i.      Treat every individual as if they could be an angel

                                                          iii.      Plead with people to come and be a part of your home

                                                          iv.      Open your home to the weary traveler
