Ephesians 2:8-9

By Grace You Are Saved

 

Eph 2:8  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 

Eph 2:9  Not of works, lest any man should boast. 

 

          1.      God Saved You by His Grace

a.       No one is deserving of God’s grace

                                                              i.      Romans 3:10

          2.      God Saved You Through His Gift of Faith

a.       Galatians 2:20 

          3.      The Grace was Not of You

          4.      The Faith was Not of You

a.       Faith is a gift from God

                                                              i.      Philippians 1:29 

          5.      You Did Nothing to Earn God’s Favor

a.       Paul knew all to well about the pride and arrogance of believing that he was deserving of God’s love

                                                              i.      Philippians 3:4-10 

          6.      You Have Nothing to Boast of

a.       No one can glory in the presence of Christ

                                                              i.      1 Corinthians 1:28-31 

b.      Our only glory should be in the cross of Jesus

                                                              i.      Galatians 6:14
