II Timothy 2:8-13

The Heart of a Pastor

2Ti 2:8  Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel: 

2Ti 2:9  Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound. 

2Ti 2:10  Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. 

2Ti 2:11  It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: 

2Ti 2:12  If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: 

2Ti 2:13  If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself. 

1. A Pastor Must Remember To:
1. Preach the true gospel. – vs. 8*

                                                               i.      1 Corinthians 15:1-11 

2. Suffer for lifting up the word of God – vs. 9*

                                                               i.      2 Timothy 1:8 

3. Endure all things for the elect sake. – vs. 10*

                                                               i.      Colossians 1:24-25 

4. Preach the truth of the Resurrection. – vs. 11*

                                                               i.      Romans 6:3-5 

5. Preach that if one denies Christ he will be denied by Christ. – vs. 12*

                                                               i.      Luke 9:23-26 

6. Preach how Christ remains faithful to us even when we fail Him because he cannot deny himself. – vs. 13*

                                                               i.      1Thessalonians 5:23-24 

                                                             ii.      Romans 8:29-30 

                                                            iii.      1 Peter 5:8-11
