Roman 8:13

Roman 8:13
Victory in Jesus

Rom 8:13  For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

      1.      The Rebellion Against the Slavery of Sin Has Begun. How Do I as a Believer in Christ Overcome Sin?
a.       Up to this point Paul has been emphasizing the truth that man is broken and without hope, apart from Christ. The temptation is to think that this could also be referring to the Christian. While the Christian hopeless without Christ he is not hopeless in Christ. In fact, he is more than a conquer.

b.      Because and through the victory given to the believer, the believer is called upon to murder or overpower the deeds of the body. He is not to just sit around waiting for God to do something for him. Rather, he is to actively build habits of spiritual discipline into his life.
